KBR is looking for a Diagnostics and Prognostics Group Intern for the ISRDS contract at NASA Ames. This opportunity will explore the nature of prognostics.
In particular:
– Estimating on-line confidence of remaining life predictions
– Hybrid data-driven/physics based prognostics
– System-level prognostics; prognostic ensembles

Application domains include those from space environment (including International Space Station, Europa lander, lunar gateway, etc.) Aeronautics (e.g., On- Demand Mobility). Spend a summer, a semester, or longer at NASA Ames and get immersed in the PCoEs activities while working towards your Ph.D. (if the topic is synchronized). Both US Citizens and international students (F1/OPT) are welcome to apply. Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
– MS in Engineering or related fields
– 2 years of related experience
– Working towards completion of Ph.D. Program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other fields
– Expert understanding of state-of-the-art theoretical approaches to diagnostics such as distributed diagnostics, sequential diagnostics, arborescent architectures, disambiguating knowledge, model- based diagnosis, hybrid systems, hypotheses discrimination, inference-based diagnosis, active diagnosis, qualitative reasoning, and others.
– Comfortable coding in MATLAB, Python, C, C++, and able to integrate research quality work into the production environment.
Independence and the ability to take their own research path and take ownership of projects
– Publishing and paper writing skills
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact and gel with the team effectively is also an important requirement
